About the Coral Adventurer

Launched in April 2019, Coral Adventurer is a tropical expedition ship purpose-designed to access remote wilderness shores in Australia and internationally, that are often inaccessible to large cruise vessels.

Coral Adventurer features spacious and vibrant living spaces created by Brisbane interior design firm, Arkhefield, inspired by the company’s Australian ethos and the wide-open spaces the ship visits.  The ship’s lightweight dual Xplorer expedition tenders, another trademark feature of all Coral Expeditions vessels, extend the capabilities of the ship by allowing deeper exploration on shore excursions. These ‘safari jeeps’ of the sea are fast, sturdy, and comfortable and developed to allow easy boarding from the ship and walk-off disembarkation onto remote shores.

The perfect balance between being large enough for ocean voyaging in comfort yet creating the intimate and relaxed atmosphere for which Coral Expeditions is renowned, Coral Adventurer embodies our Australian philosophy of adventure, relaxation, generosity, storytelling, and appreciation for the great outdoors. Carrying a maximum of 120 passengers –  Coral Adventurer is purpose-built to take you closer to unspoiled vistas in comfort, style, and safety.

For our international guests, a limited number of adapters are available onboard but we recommend you bring your own if required. Please check your equipment to be sure you bring what is necessary for your personal needs.

Bathrooms onboard Coral Adventurer are equipped with both 110V and 200/240V outlets for electric shavers only.

Footwear Adventure

Expedition travel is about getting to remote places that are often rocky, sandy, wet and glasslands. Sturdy, comfortable footwear is essential. Each destination may have slightly different requirements however every cruise will require runners or walking boots that are worn in and comfortable. If you are worried about ankles etc make sure you have boots that support you.

Important Note

For wet landings, cheaper neoprene reef shoes, flip-flops, and crocs are not suitable for any terrain. If you do not want to invest in a new pair of sandals, you can use old runners (that will get ruined) for getting your feet wet and then change into dry walking shoes. This does mean carrying a second pair of shoes and a hand towel to dry your feet.

Comfortable walking shoes and wet landing shoes such as reef walkers, Tevas or old sneakers are recommended.

All vessels are equipped to deal with the majority dietary requirements with 4 weeks notice.  If you have any questions or concerns please speak with us prior to booking a cruise.

Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Embark on each day with a tantalising array of options, whether it’s a fresh continental spread or a hot breakfast a la carte, boasting daily rotating offerings.

Aboard their fleet of small expedition ships, guests are treated to a diverse selection of plated and small sharing platter dining options that showcase the region’s finest flavours.

At lunchtime, guests can indulge in a variety of hot and cold dishes, ranging from crisp salads and savory cold cuts to hearty soups, locally sourced seafood, and seasonal tropical fruits, all served in individual portions or on small sharing plates.

Evenings onboard become a time for convivial dining experiences as guests gather to reflect on the day’s adventures over scrumptious dinners. They are warmly welcomed aboard with a delightful Seafood sharing concept dinner on the first night, followed by subsequent evenings featuring a three-course table d’Hote dinner menu. Guests can select their preferences while enjoying attentive table service from the friendly dining room staff.

Before dinner, guests are invited to immerse themselves in the magic of a memorable pre-dinner event ashore, where sunset drinks and canapes are served, often on a picturesque beach, ensuring they’re treated to stunning sunset views. These laid-back ‘sundowners,’ hosted by the Captain, offer the perfect opportunity for guests to unwind, sip on beer, wine, or cocktails, and mingle with fellow guests in a relaxed setting.

For lunch and dinner, guests can savor the flavours with a carefully curated beverage list, showcasing boutique Australian and New Zealand wines, beers, and ciders.

As a special highlight, each voyage includes a Captain’s Table event for invited guests, and the ship’s Officers make it a point to host dinners for guests whenever operational schedules allow.

Inclusions

Meals: All meals are fresh and chef-prepared onboard
Tea and Coffee: 24-hour barista-style coffee and tea station
Beverages: Selected wines, beers, juices, soft drinks and selected spirits are served complimentary with lunch and dinner. Drinks are available for purchase at other times.

Beverages On Board

During lunch and dinner, guests can enjoy a thoughtfully selected list of beverages. In the evening, if the weather allows, there’s a sunset drinks gathering on the Vista Deck, where guests unwind and mingle before dinner. Additionally, the Captain hosts welcome and farewell events on each voyage, treating guests to complimentary snacks and drinks.

Snacks and Pre-dinner Canapes

Between shore adventures, guests are welcomed back on board with freshly baked treats or delectable canapés to accompany pre-dinner or sunset drinks, prepared by the chefs. If local regulations permit, impromptu stops may be made to enjoy sunset drinks and canapés in scenic locations.

Special Meal Requirements

Special dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free options, are incorporated into all menus. The chefs are happy to accommodate other dietary needs with advance notice.

Phone

While traveling, you may not have access to mobile reception for extended periods of time. We recommend using internet communications such as WhatsApp and Messenger to make calls and send messages using the complimentary internet provided onboard.

Internet

Coral Expeditions has satellite broadband connectivity across our fleet. All guests are provided complimentary access to standard wi-fi as part of the fare inclusion. Guests are also able to purchase package upgrades enabling access to higher speed bandwidth. Though our ships have state-of-the-art hardware connecting to Starlink and 4G networks, remote area connectivity is not completely reliable. We advise you to download your favorite shows prior to embarkation. Internet access is best in public areas but not guaranteed in staterooms due to the steel structure of the ship.

Walks / Hikes / Fishing

Most walks are leisurely strolls along beaches, however, there are some more strenuous walks on offer. An alternative excursion will always be offered in place of higher impact walks.

The Expedition Team will advise walking conditions and requirements before each excursion. Should you have any physical limitations or mobility issues, please notify our reservations team in advance prior to your departure.

  • These is no fishing available on Coral Expeditions

Swimming / Snorkeling / Scuba (Where Applicable)

The amount of swimming/snorkeling and scuba options will vary depending on your itinerary. There are very limited swimming options in the Kimberley. The saltwater regions are the home of large saltwater crocodiles and some freshwater holes flood with saltwater on high tides. The expedition team will offer this option when conditions and tides allow.

  • Wade Through the Wonders: Feel the essence as you step from tenders onto sandy shores, crushed coral, or rocky outcrops.
  • Explore Diverse Terrain: Hike across rugged rocks, through spinifex grasslands, and over mudflats. You might even ascend a ladder or traverse a waterfall!
  • Water Adventures: Prepare to splash through freshwater streams and saltwater pools on your journey.

This is not your typical cruise – it’s an immersive expedition into the heart of your destination

On the Great Barrier Reef, Islands of East Indies, New Guinea and Micronesia, and many other regions that we explore, you will enjoy opportunities to snorkel and scuba dive over some of the most diverse ecosystems of colorful and pristine coral reefs. On expeditions, you are able to snorkel from many places such as beaches, sand cays and from our Xplorer tenders. Additionally, the Expedition Team will offer drift snorkels where suitable, and guided snorkel tours. At each site the Expedition Team will provide you with a site briefing, which will cover rest stations, points of interest and water entry and exit practices.

Snorkeling and scuba diving departments are fully stocked with a wide range of snorkels, fins and masks (including prescription masks) along with all the necessary equipment to allow you to try the unforgettable experience that is scuba diving. Snorkeling equipment will be assigned to all guests at the commencement of each cruise.  You are welcome to take your own snorkel, fins and mask if you prefer.

Xplorer

Xplorer ONE and Xplorer TWO – Coral Adventurer’s lightweight dual Xplorer tenders, a trademark feature of all Coral Expeditions vessels, extend the capabilities of the ship by allowing deeper exploration on shore excursions. These ‘safari jeeps’ of the sea are fast, sturdy, comfortable and developed to allow easy disembarkation onto remote shores. Located on a hydraulic platform at the stern, passengers are able to walk straight onto the tender from the deck. Xplorers are equipped with shelter and toilet facilities.

Zodiacs

Coral Adventurer carries six inflatable landing craft (Zodiacs). Designed for expeditions, these large, heavy duty inflatables are extremely safe and maneuverable. The flat bottom design permits these crafts to land directly onto beaches.

Kayaks

Both double and single kayaks are available for use at select points throughout your cruise.
