“The Kimberley Completely Exceeded My Expectations” – Hayley’s Reef Prince Experience

When Hayley returned from her recent Kimberley cruise onboard Reef Prince, the first thing she said was:

As she spoke about her experience, it became very clear why so many people return from the Kimberley saying it was one of the best trips they’ve ever done.

For Hayley, what really stood out were the moments that simply don’t feel real until you’re standing there experiencing them.

She described finishing a visit to Montgomery Reef, then suddenly finding yourself standing barefoot on a remote sandbar with a glass of champagne in hand, watching the sky put on a show with a perfect sunset over the ocean.

The Kimberley has a way of making you feel very small in the best possible way.

The scenery is immense, untouched and constantly changing.

One minute you’re cruising through towering gorges, the next you’re swimming beneath waterfalls or exploring ancient rock formations.

One of the things Hayley loved most was just how many opportunities there were to swim.

Whether it was cooling off in beautiful rock pools, floating in freshwater rivers, or enjoying a refreshing dip after an excursion, swimming became part of the daily adventure.

Some locations required short walks or climbs to reach hidden waterholes, and Hayley noticed the crew thinking of every detail along the way.

At one particular waterhole, the staff actually carried pool noodles up the hill for everyone because the water was deep. It was those little touches that really stood out.

Hayley said there was never a dull moment onboard Reef Prince.

Each day brought a completely different experience — exploring waterfalls, cruising through mangroves, visiting remote beaches, fishing, swimming, learning about Indigenous culture and wildlife, or simply soaking up the incredible scenery from the tenders.

Because the ship is smaller and more intimate, guests can access places larger vessels simply can’t reach.

Fishing was another highlight.

Whether you were experienced or simply wanted to give it a try, there were plenty of opportunities to fish in different locations throughout the voyage.

Hayley loved that guests could choose how active they wanted to be.

Some people were focused on fishing, others on swimming or photography, while many simply enjoyed the relaxed pace and ever-changing scenery.

When Hayley spoke about the crew, it was obvious this was one of the defining parts of the experience.

From the expedition team and tender drivers through to the hospitality crew and chefs, everyone onboard created an atmosphere that felt welcoming, relaxed and incredibly personal.

One unexpected highlight?

It perfectly summed up the atmosphere onboard — relaxed, engaging and full of thoughtful little surprises.

Hayley stayed in an inside cabin and admitted she had initially wondered whether she would mind not having a window.

In the end, it became one of the surprises of the trip.

She also commented that the staterooms at the front of the vessel were spacious and very quiet.

But more importantly, she said the entire boat gradually became something much more than accommodation.

What Hayley loved most was the atmosphere onboard.

Rather than feeling formal or overly polished, Reef Prince felt relaxed, genuine and welcoming.

That sense of camaraderie — combined with the extraordinary scenery, constant adventure and exceptional crew — is what transformed the trip into something much bigger than a cruise.
