My recommendation for hotels in Broome

If you have never been to Broome before it is important to be aware that it has basically two separate areas; Broome town and Cable Beach. It is about an 8-10 minute drive between the two.

From a personal perspective, Broome feels wonderfully remote, rugged, and distinctly Australian. Surrounded by vast landscapes, red pindan earth, and pristine coastline, it offers a true escape from the pace of everyday life. The town’s rich pearling history, which helped shape Broome into the multicultural destination it is today, can still be experienced through its historic buildings, pearl showrooms, and fascinating local stories. Combined with breathtaking sunsets, a relaxed atmosphere, and a strong connection to nature, Broome is a destination unlike anywhere else in Australia.

Cable Beach is Broome’s premier resort area, located approximately 10 minutes from Broome Town Centre and Chinatown. Renowned for its 22 kilometres of pristine white sand, spectacular Indian Ocean sunsets, and iconic camel rides along the beach, Cable Beach is perfect for couples, families, and travellers seeking a relaxed coastal getaway. Accommodation options range from the famous Cable Beach luxury beachfront resort to self-contained apartments and hotels.

Broome Town Centre, also known as Chinatown, is the historic heart of Broome and the centre of its famous pearling industry. Here, visitors can explore pearl showrooms, heritage buildings, local galleries, cafés, restaurants, and boutique shops while learning about the town’s unique multicultural history. Staying in town is ideal for guests wanting easy access to dining, culture, and tour departures, with Cable Beach only a short 10-minute drive away.

Below are our recommended accommodation options for your stay:

Moonlight Bay Suites

Moonlight Bay Suites is an excellent choice for guests seeking spacious, self-contained accommodation in a central location.

Conveniently positioned close to Broome’s town centre, guests are within easy reach of the Courthouse Markets, Pearl Luggers, and the historic Sun Pictures Theatre. The property offers well-appointed 1 and 2 bedroom suites featuring full kitchen and laundry facilities, along with a large swimming pool, BBQ area, gym, and onsite day spa.

Located directly opposite Matso’s Broome Brewery, this property is ideal for those wanting easy access to dining and local attractions. Guests may also utilise facilities on the day of departure, including luggage storage and a courtesy shower room.

Pinctada Broome Cable Beach

Set within tranquil bushland just minutes from Cable Beach, Pinctada offers a boutique and relaxed resort experience.

The property features a peaceful atmosphere ideal for unwinding, with a resort pool and onsite dining available in a private and intimate setting. This is a great option for travellers seeking a quiet escape close to one of Broome’s most iconic beaches.

Please note that restaurant and bar hours may vary during the wet season.

Seashells Broome

Seashells Broome is a family-friendly resort located just 300 metres from Cable Beach.

Surrounded by tropical gardens, the resort offers fully self-contained 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments and bungalows, providing space and privacy for guests. Facilities include a large outdoor swimming pool, children’s paddling pool and playground, BBQ facilities, small resort shop, and complimentary parking.

This property is well suited to families or guests seeking a relaxed, self-contained stay close to Cable Beach.

Mangrove Hotel

Nestled within lush tropical gardens, Mangrove Hotel offers panoramic views over Roebuck Bay and a relaxed resort-style atmosphere close to Broome’s town centre.

The hotel features a range of accommodation options, along with two on-site restaurants and two outdoor swimming pools for guest enjoyment.

All rooms include cable TV and private bathrooms for comfort and convenience.

Guests can enjoy the Bay Club Bar, an alfresco dining venue with cabanas and lounge seating overlooking the bay, widely regarded as one of the best vantage points in Broome to experience the famous Staircase to the Moon phenomenon.

Centrally located, Mangrove Hotel is within walking distance to the town centre and approximately 5 minutes from Broome International Airport.

***OPTIONAL UPGRADE – CABLE BEACH CLUB***

Please note that there may be an additional fee applicable for the hotel listed below.

Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa

The award-winning Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa is Broome’s only resort located directly on the pristine white sands of iconic Cable Beach, where the striking red pindan landscape meets the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean to create one of Australia’s most spectacular coastal settings.

The resort features 225 rooms thoughtfully designed to reflect the Asian and colonial influences that have shaped Broome’s unique character. Set within expansive tropical gardens showcasing artefacts from around the world, the property offers a truly distinctive sense of place.

Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa caters to both couples and families, with a range of accommodation options including studios, villas, bungalows, and suites.

Guests can enjoy a premium resort experience with access to an adults-only ocean pool, the renowned Chahoya Spa by L’Occitane, Buddha Sanctuary, fitness centre, and four distinctive dining venues. Families are well catered for with a dedicated family pool, water playground, mini golf, and tennis courts, ensuring an enjoyable stay for all ages.

We always recommend staying at least one night before and one night after your cruise in Broome to allow for any unforeseen travel disruptions and to ensure a relaxed start and finish to your expedition.

If you’re spending two or more days in Broome, we highly recommend hiring a car. While Broome itself is easy to explore, having your own vehicle gives you the freedom to discover more of the region’s incredible natural beauty. One of our favourite experiences is taking a drive up the Dampier Peninsula to Cape Leveque, where the striking contrast of red cliffs, white sand, and turquoise ocean creates some of the most memorable scenery in Australia.

As an added benefit, Expedition Partners offers two complimentary nights’ accommodation in Broome and a free morning sightseeing tour on most expedition cruises of 7 nights or longer, representing a value of up to $600 per cabin and $300 for sole use.

What travellers say

“Their product knowledge is amazing”

I am very impressed with this company. All the staff I have dealt with have been extremely helpful and courteous, even when I have had to change my travel plans. They went out of their way to assist me with the changes. Their product knowledge is amazing and their help in arranging accommodation and tours has been fabulous. Their offer of two free nights accommodation and a free Broome sightseeing tour is an added bonus. I am very happy that I have booked with them and would thoroughly recommend them.

“The cruise suited us perfectly”

We were very pleased with the help we received from Jenny and Simon when we were deciding on which cruise to choose for our Kimberley holiday. The cruise we settled for, Coral Expeditions, suited us perfectly. We were also very pleased with the two free nights accommodation and hop on hop off bus pass in Darwin. Highly recommended.
