Footwear Adventure

Expedition travel is about getting to remote places that are often rocky, sandy, wet and glasslands. Sturdy, comfortable footwear is essential. Each destination may have slightly different requirements however every cruise will require runners or walking boots that are worn in and comfortable. If you are worried about ankles etc make sure you have boots that support you.

Important Note

For wet landings, cheaper neoprene reef shoes, flip-flops, and crocs are not suitable for any terrain. If you do not want to invest in a new pair of sandals, you can use old runners (that will get ruined) for getting your feet wet and then change into dry walking shoes. This does mean carrying a second pair of shoes and a hand towel to dry your feet.

All vessels are equipped to deal with the majority dietary requirements with 4 weeks notice.  If you have any questions or concerns please speak with us prior to booking a cruise.

Dining

The Grill

Is a popular casual dining venue offering a mouthwatering variety of burgers and salads during the day, and transitioning into the famous Hot Rocks table BBQ experience in the evening. Positioned as the ideal dining spot between the sea and the sky, The Grill promises flavorful dishes cooked to perfection, a laid-back atmosphere, and stunning views.

Dress Code: Casual for women (casual attire comprises pants, blouses, or casual dresses), while men are recommended to wear open-neck shirts and slacks.

La Dame

At La Dame after a day of trekking through tundra and whale watching, indulge in an evening of palette pampering with fine wines complementing a set bespoke menu of regionally-inspired dishes. This intimate and elegant setting offers an extraordinary six-course experience celebrating the world’s most distinguished wine regions, surely making it the finest dining at sea.

La Terrazza

Embodies the essence of contemporary Italian dining, paying homage to the delicious evolution of Italy’s beloved cuisine. As one of Silversea’s signature restaurants, it offers fresh interpretations of classic dishes while also showcasing new stars of Italian gastronomy. Each dish retains the comforting familiarity of Italian cuisine yet incorporates a subtle element of surprise. La Terrazza welcomes guests for casual, buffet-style breakfast and lunch, providing both indoor and al fresco dining options on the outdoor terrace. In the evening, the venue transitions into an à la carte Italian restaurant. Due to limited seating, reservations are recommended for dinner service.

The Restaurant

The Restaurant is a lively gathering place resonating with tales of adventure, camaraderie, and kindred spirits. It presents a menu of modern, global dishes expertly prepared by our top chefs. These menus highlight regional delicacies unique to the destinations visited during the cruise, offering surprises like roasted Chilean Sea Bass amidst the Chilean fjords.

Beverages On Board

Guests at Silversea can indulge in a complimentary glass or bottle of champagne, wine, beer, or top-shelf spirits of their choice. The cruise line also guarantees a plentiful supply of water, juices, and soft drinks in both public bars and suites. Silversea’s promise is to keep the mini-bar stocked with guests’ preferred beverages, whether it’s fine wines, spirits, or refreshing bottled water for warm, sunny days! Personal butlers ensure daily replenishments, but should guests desire something extra, they can simply make a request,

Wireless Phone and Data Service

Onboard, guests have the convenience of making and receiving phone calls, sending text messages, and accessing select data services on their personal mobile phones or PDA devices. These services are billed by the guests’ home mobile phone provider, with charges appearing as roaming fees on their bill. Prior to departure, guests are advised to contact their provider to ensure that a roaming agreement with Silversea has been established.

Additionally, Silver Cloud is equipped with a phone system that enables guests to make direct-dial calls from their suite while at sea. Charges for these calls will be applied to the guest’s onboard account. Guests are encouraged to consult the ship’s Reception Desk for the current rate, which, as of the time of printing, stands at USD$1.50 per minute.

It’s important to note that these onboard communication technologies utilise satellite equipment. Consequently, there may be intermittent disruptions to satellite-connected shoreside services, including Internet connections, cell phone signals, in-suite phones, television broadcast channels, and world news summaries. Extended outages are more likely when voyaging to Polar regions.

Internet

All Silversea vessels are equipped to provide wireless (WiFi) Internet connectivity. Passengers have the option to use their personal laptops to browse the web and check emails at WiFi hotspots across the ship or within the comfort and seclusion of their suites. Additionally, computers, email, and Internet facilities are available onboard at the Internet Café. However, it’s essential to note that telecommunication services while at sea rely on satellite connections, which differ significantly from high-speed connections on land. The signal travels similarly to radio waves but across much greater distances. Consequently, consistent Internet access onboard cannot be guaranteed at all times. Satellite communications are also susceptible to weather conditions and the ship’s location. Specifically, Internet service tends to be extremely intermittent in Arctic regions. Guests on expedition cruises to/from Svalbard should anticipate being without communication for the entirety of their voyage.

Walks/Hikes/fishing

Most walks are leisurely strolls along beaches, however, there are some more strenuous walks on offer. An alternative excursion will always be offered in place of higher impact walks. The Expedition Team will advise walking conditions and requirements before each excursion. Should you have any physical limitations or mobility issues, please notify our reservations team in advance prior to your departure.

These is no fishing available on Silver Cloud

Swimming / Snorkeling / Scuba (Where Applicable)

The amount of swimming/snorkeling and scuba options will vary depending on your itinerary. There are very limited swimming options in the Kimberley. The saltwater regions are the home of large saltwater crocodiles and some freshwater holes flood with saltwater on high tides. The expedition team will offer this option when conditions and tides allow.

  • Wade Through the Wonders: Feel the essence as you step from tenders onto sandy shores, crushed coral, or rocky outcrops.
  • Explore Diverse Terrain: Hike across rugged rocks, through spinifex grasslands, and over mudflats. You might even ascend a ladder or traverse a waterfall!
