About the Sea Spirit
M/V Sea Spirit fleet goes where other ships cannot follow. Small expedition ship Sea Spirit can navigate into protected channels and bays that are out of bounds to larger cruise ships. Importantly, her smaller passenger numbers mean that everyone can go ashore simultaneously at landing sites in Antarctica and the Arctic where regulations limit the number of visitors ashore.
Like some of the birds we see in the Arctic and Antarctica, our M/V Sea Spirit is migratory and follows the sun, northbound in the summer and southbound in the winter, always ready for spontaneous discoveries — a pod of whales, a family of polar bears or a glaciated mountain vista. She is highly maneuverable and capable of navigating the narrow fjords of East Greenland and entering the small bays of Spitsbergen. In 2017, she was renovated to offer a unique mixture of adventure and comfort for our sophisticated travelers.
Providing spacious suites for accommodation of 114 passengers the Sea Spirit at the same time features maneuverability and friendly atmosphere of small ships. The vessel has an ice-strengthened hull, and a fleet of Zodiacs.
Sea Spirit has been retrofitted with Rolls Royce Zero Speed Stabilisers that allow safe, stable navigation through icy waters. The operational benefits of the new retractable fin stabilisers include reducing the ship’s roll when anchored, moored, or drifting, reducing dynamic drag when deployed while underway, and eliminating vibration and noise.
It maximises travelers’ time ashore because there is no need for splitting passengers into groups for landing rotations as required on larger ships.
