Footwear Adventure

Expedition travel is about getting to remote places that are often rocky, sandy, wet and glasslands. Sturdy, comfortable footwear is essential. Each destination may have slightly different requirements however every cruise will require runners or walking boots that are worn in and comfortable. If you are worried about ankles etc make sure you have boots that support you.

Important Note

For wet landings, cheaper neoprene reef shoes, flip-flops, and crocs are not suitable for any terrain. If you do not want to invest in a new pair of sandals, you can use old runners (that will get ruined) for getting your feet wet and then change into dry walking shoes. This does mean carrying a second pair of shoes and a hand towel to dry your feet.

You will need a pair of enclosed shoes that offer good ankle support for bushwalking. We also recommend you bring another pair of shoes that you do not mind getting wet as we regularly have wet landings; ideally a pair of Tevas, Keens, reef sandals, booties or equivalent. Shoes can be worn on board.

All vessels are equipped to deal with the majority dietary requirements with 4 weeks notice.  If you have any questions or concerns please speak with us prior to booking a cruise.

Cuisine on board Kimberley Quest II is simply delicious. All meals are prepared by our talented chef in the fully equipped gourmet galley, offering an array of fresh fish, seafood, the highest quality meats, freshly baked breads and some of the best local produce.

The menu is designed with variety in mind and you can expect a minimum of three meals each day with tasty treats and snacks in between meals. When our guests catch fresh fish, oysters or crabs, you can expect to see them on the menu!

With both indoor and outdoor dining areas, you can relax while enjoying the amazing cuisine and the ever-changing backdrop. The air conditioned indoor dining area offers a large open dining/lounge space and is an excellent location to sit down and enjoy a delicious meal with views through our full length windows, whilst the outdoor dining area offers a relaxed environment complete with a soft ocean breeze.

Kimberley Quest II  caters for all dietary requirements and special needs. Kimberley Quest II  has endless fresh drinking water, tea, coffee and an espresso machine available 24 hours a day.

Kimberley Quest II is a fully licensed vessel and beverages can be pre-ordered prior to your departure. BYO is also an option.

A big part of being on an ‘expedition’ is getting away to the more remote corners of the world. This can mean interrupted signals and service on board.

The Kimberley Quest II has a satellite and VOIP phone on-board. Guests are welcome to use these, however they are at an additional cost to your cruise and you are required to see your captain or a crew member prior to using these facilities.

Fishing: An Optional Adventure

Enjoy the thrill of fishing in the Kimberley! Fishing excursions can be an alternative to scenic tours or walks. Fishing gear is provided, however you’re welcome to bring your own rod and reel for bottom fishing or lure casting.

Important Note

While we love offering fishing opportunities, this is an expedition vessel, not a dedicated fishing charter. Please pack light on gear and keep in mind that all catches are enjoyed onboard and cannot be taken home.

Embrace the Wild Kimberley: Getting Ashore

The Kimberley’s dramatic tides and untouched landscapes create unique opportunities for adventure. With no wharfs, each landing is a thrilling experience:

  • Wade Through the Wonders: Feel the Kimberley’s essence as you step from tenders onto sandy shores, crushed coral, or rocky outcrops.
  • Explore Diverse Terrain: Hike across rugged rocks, through spinifex grasslands, and over mudflats. You might even ascend a ladder or traverse a waterfall!
  • Water Adventures: Prepare to splash through freshwater streams and saltwater pools on your journey.

This is not your typical cruise – it’s an immersive expedition into the heart of Australia’s wilderness.

Every onshore expedition consists of an interesting and sometimes exhilarating tender excursion. View mangrove habitats, spot crocodiles basking on the mudflats, bird watch, fish, and experience the natural beauty of the Kimberley. Sightseeing from the comfort and safety of the Kimberley Quest II excursion vessels, which consist of three 5 metre tenders and the 11 metre shaded Quest Express.

Kimberley Quest II carries three excursion tenders and a shaded fast boat, so days are filled with a myriad of activities both on and off land, exploring the spectacular region with your very own local guide, who has extensive knowledge of the Kimberley coastline.

All transfers are provided between your accommodation and the Kimberley Quest II. Expeditions departing or arriving in Wyndham include transfers to and from Kununurra to the vessel. Selected cruises include a light aircraft transfer and a helicopter flight over the Mitchell Falls.

Transfer options vary depending on your itinerary. Please ask us for specific details. 1300 654 861 or contact@expeditionpartners.com.au
