This week, Dani is in Western Australia experiencing the incredible Abrolhos Islands — and what an adventure it’s been!
She arrived by small plane, soaring over brilliant turquoise waters scattered with coral-fringed islets, before stepping straight onto the boat that would be home for the next few days. From the moment she arrived, the atmosphere onboard was wonderfully relaxed, with a sense of easy adventure. Dani settled into one of the spacious King Staterooms — bright, comfortable, and surprisingly luxurious for an expedition vessel.
First impressions? Excellent. A friendly crew, light-filled cabins, and that unmistakable feeling that something special was about to unfold.
Dani joined a local fishing tour and landed herself a beautiful pinky — not bad for a morning’s work! The adventure continued with a fascinating visit to the historic Batavia wreck site, where centuries-old stories meet the sparkling turquoise sea. The day wrapped up with a true Abrolhos experience: pulling up crayfish pots straight from the ocean.
The final day began with a visit to tiny Post Office Island, a coral cay rich in charm and history. Then came a special encounter — meeting a local pearling and crayfishing family. Their home, pearl farm, and little shop offered a rare glimpse into life on the islands — authentic, humble, and deeply connected to the sea.
