A recent report revealed that the Perth to Broome air route is the worst in Australia for delays.
In 2024 the Broome–Perth route had the lowest percentage of on-time arrivals (47.9 per cent) and the lowest percentage of on-time departures (39.7 per cent) in Australia.
Why does this matter for people with Kimberley cruises?
The Kimberley is remote, really remote. That’s why a Kimberley cruise is so special.
But if you miss your cruise, maybe due to a delayed flight into Broome, then there is no realistic way to catch up.
We know that just because a flight is scheduled to take off at a specific time and land at a specific time; that doesn’t mean it happens. Flights are delayed and sometimes cancelled. Luggage can be lost.

That’s why we recommend (well insist really) that you factor in at least one night in Broome before your Kimberley cruise. It is just not worth trying to arrive on the same day.
Ideally you should try for two nights or more before your cruise to give you plenty of ‘wriggle room’….
Don’t cut your arrival time into Broome too tight or you’ll miss your cruise.
