Is the Reef Prince right for you?

Prefer a genuinely small ship
Want plenty of time off the ship exploring
Like a relaxed, informal atmosphere
Are more interested in the Kimberley than fancy onboard facilities
Want to travel with a smaller group
What our 2IC, Dani thought of the Reef Prince.
Danni from our team travelled aboard the Reef Prince. Here’s what she thought.
What surprised me was how much you actually get to see and do each day. We were out exploring in the tenders morning and afternoon and saw incredible places.
I’d recommend the Reef Prince to travellers who want a genuine small ship experience and are more interested in the Kimberley itself than lots of onboard facilities.

What I loved is that the small group made it so relaxed. It felt like travelling with a group of friends and the crew were fantastic.
You should know before booking that it’s an expedition ship, so it’s comfortable but informal. If you’re looking for balconies and multiple dining options, this might not be the right fit.
What is the Reef Prince actually like?
Reef Prince is an older-style, laid-back expedition vessel. She’s comfortable rather than fancy, the food is great and the atmosphere onboard is relaxed and social. You tend to get to know your fellow travellers pretty quickly.
Days focus on getting off the ship to experience the Kimberley: walking, hiking, swimming, fishing, seeing Indigenous rock art and immersing yourself in the wildlife, landscapes and culture.
Back onboard, things are equally relaxed. Have a shower, grab a drink and share the day’s adventures over dinner. Drinks are available at reasonable bar prices and there’s no need to dress up.
The cabins are compact but comfortable and all have their own ensuite. There are several cabin categories and some involve steps, so it’s worth talking to us about which cabin will suit you best.
Most guests tend to be around 55–65, although attitude matters much more than age. Reef Prince suits travellers who want to get out, explore, have a bit of fun and really experience the Kimberley.
Prices range from $15,595 to $18,595 per person, with good options for solo travellers too.
The Reef Prince isn’t for everyone.
You won’t find private balconies, multiple restaurants or lots of onboard facilities. Reef Prince is a small, comfortable and informal expedition vessel where the focus is very much on the Kimberley and getting off the ship to explore.
If that sounds like your kind of Kimberley cruise, Reef Prince is well worth considering.
